Diagnosis: Body medium-sized. Head is small and globular. Pronotum subquadrate, excavated in center; lateral margins distinctly bordered. Tegmen extending to apex of abdomen, presenting with a large mirror and numerous oblique veins in male. Transverse sections of all tibiae quadrangular; fore tibia with a small round internal tympanum; hind tibia with two rows of numerous very short denticles on upper side and 6 spurs at apex. Male genitalia with epiphallus with membranous window, one or two pairs of ectoparameres.

The genus comprises two subgenera: Cacoplistes Brunner von Wattenwyl 1873; and Laminogryllus Gorochov, 2003).
