Previous records in the Hauts Plateaux and coastal area. B. ferox has been recorded at Mécheria, Aïn Sefra (Gauthier 1928b), and in Jemot (Beladjal & Amarouayache 2023; Ouahioune Rais 2019).

Comments. B. ferox was found exclusively at three Algerian sites, all of which were in the Hauts Plateaux (Gauthier 1928b). This species shows a preference for alkaline waters (Thiéry 1987) and, although it occurs throughout the Maghreb, is relatively localized (Thiéry 1987; Marrone et al. 2016).
