Genus Gamasomorpha Karsh, 1881

Remarks. Gamasomorpha currently includes 48 species, most of which have been recorded from East Asia to Southeast Asia (World Spider Catalog 2023). This genus was established by Karsh based on the type species G. cataphracta collected from Japan. Spiders of this genus possess well-developed scutum on the dorsum of abdomen. The genital morphology of Gamasomorpha is similar to that of Xestaspis Simon, 1884 (Brescovit et al. 2019; Ott & Harvey 2008). For details of the morphological differences between Gamasomorpha and Xestaspis, see the Xestaspis section.
