Velocisaurus unicus Bonaparte, 1991a
Age . Coniacian.
Occurrence. Rio Colorado Formation, Neuquén, Argentina.
Diagnosis. Shafts of Mt II and IV strongly reduced, and less than half as wide as the shaft of Mt III; Mt III straight and of subequal width throughout its length.
Remarks. Although Velocisaurus is based on an incomplete hindlimb (Bonaparte 1991 a), it is a diagnosable taxon due to the peculiarities of the foot. As one of the few small theropods known from Gondwana, V. unicus is of potentially great phylogenetic and biogeographical importance.
