Comments. It is interesting to note that Lobogaster, as many other groups of flies, has as its sister group a taxon in southern Brazil (see, e.g., discussion in Fachin et al. 2018), in this case, Carreraia . There are some specimens of Lobogaster paradoxus referred to in the literature, but Carreraia edwardsi (Carrera) is extremely rare, known only from the holotype.
