Afromecopoda preussiana (Karsch, 1891)

[A] CH 4945, CH 5001 2 ♂♂, CH 5009–10 2 ♀♀

There are only two published records of A. preussiana outside Cameroon, both in Congo: Lukula (5.24’ S, 12.56’E) and Umangi (2.21ºS, 21.4ºE; Griffini 1908a). Irangi is quite far from these localities and much more in the East. One undetermined nymph of the genus, however, had been already collected in the Ituri region (Rehn, 1914), north of the Kivu region. With respect to the possibly large variability (Griffini mentions an unusually small male), we consider our specimens as belonging to this species despite the tegmina being considerably shorter than in the types.

At the frontal edge, the tegmina show a very narrow, translucent margin similar as described for A. austera by Karsch 1893.
