Vicia narbonensis Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 737. 1753.

"Habitat in Gallia, Anglia." RCN: 5422.

Lectotype ( Schäfer in Kulturpflanze 21: 246, Abb. 13. 1973): [icon] " Vicia Narbonensis " in Rivinus, Ordo Pl. Fl. Tetrapetal.: t. 57. 1691 (see p. 153).

Current name: Vicia narbonensis L. ( Fabaceae: Faboideae).

Note: Ali (in Bot. Not. 120: 50. 1967) noted that 906.33 (LINN) conflicted with Linnaeus’ diagnosis, and although other authors (e.g. Chrtková-Žertová in Rechinger, Fl. Iranica 140: 56. 1979) have treated Clifford material as the type, Schäfers choice of the Rivinus plate pre-dates this.
