Calophagus pekinensis Lesne, 1902: 109 . (Fig. 6L)

Distribution in mainland China: BJ, HA, HB, HE, SD (Liu 2021).

Other distribution. Korea, Japan (Liu 2021).

Biology. The species has been collected from dead branches of Zelkova serrata (Thunb.) Makino (Ulmaceae) on Tsushima Island, Japan, freshly cut wood of an apple tree ( Rosaceae: Malus domestica Borkh.) and Chionanthus retusus Lindl & Paxton (Oleaceae) in Korea, and Styphnolobium japonicum (L.) Schott (Leguminosae) in Beijing. It is recognized as a “common pest” of timber and the wood used in the construction of houses in Hubei (Liu 2021). The clerid beetles Tarsostenus univittatus (Rossi, 1792) and Tillus notatus Klug, 1842 prey on larvae and pupae; species of Doryctinae Forster, 1862 ( Hymenoptera: Braconidae) and Bethylidae Forster, 1856 (Hymenoptera) were observed to be parasitic on larvae and pupae (Liu 2021).
