Etymology. From the pre-existing genus Paecilaema + suffix - ella. Gender feminine.
Placement. Originally in Cosmetinae . Transferred to Flirteinae by Medrano, Kury & Mendes (2021: 33).
Included species. Paecilaemella festae Roewer, 1925 (type-species by monotypy), Paecilaemella multimaculata (Wood, 1869), Paecilaemella ornata (Roewer, 1912), Paecilaemella andi sp. nov., Paecilaemella armasi sp. nov., Paecilaemella geminorum sp. nov.
Distribution. Upper Amazonas basin of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Only P. ornata is an exception, occurring on Pacific slope of the Ecuadorian Andes, outside the typical range.
