Otostigmus inermis Porat, 1876

New records. None.

Remarks. Otostigmus inermis was described from Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was recorded from Venezuela by Kraepelin (1903) and from West and Central Mountain range of Colombia by Attems (1930). In Brazil, O inermis is known from Piraquara (Figure 39), southern Brazil (Bücherl, 1974) and a no-specified locality on the Tocantins river, in the state of Pará (Schileyko, 2002). I examined some species of Otostigmus from Venezuela and Colombia and did not find O. inermis, however I identified four specimens (ZMUC) from Buenos Aires and Montevideo, Argentina and Uruguay, respectively. This species resembles O. tidius and O. lanceolatus by the dorsal integument (presence of keels), and O. tidius and O. sulcatus by the short paramedian sutures on the anterior part of sternites 2 to 18 and by presence of two tarsal spurs on legs 1 to 18. It also resembles O. tidius, O. sulcatus and O. lanceolatus by the lateral flattening of the tibia and tarsi of the ultimate pair of legs. The tibia and tarsi of O. sulcatus and O. lanceolatus are much flatter than those of O. inermis and O. tidius .
