Otostigmus buergeri Attems, 1903

Type locality. Villa Vicencio, Colombia.

New records. None.

Remarks. Apart from the type locality in Colombia the species is only known from Manaus, in the state of Amazonas, north Brazil (Figure 42). The species was briefly described by Attems (1903) and revised by Kraepelin (1903) and Attems (1928, 1930). Some characters, such as number of antennal articles and presence of spines on the posterior end of the coxopleuron, cited in all of Attems’s works differ from Kraepelin’s description. Attems cited 21 articles on antennae and coxopleuron with spine at the posterior end, whereas Kraepelin mentioned 17 articles and coxopleuron with coxopleural process, ending in a point, but without spines laterally and posteriorly. Since I could not examine specimens of O. buergeri and no illustration is given in the literature, I’m unable to determine whether this species has 21 or 17 articles and whether the coxopleuron has spines or not.
