Type data: Lepeletier (1841) did not indicate the number of females he used to describe this species. One of those specimens was found at MNHP and it is here designated lectotype. The exemplar has the following data label: collaris [handwritten]\ [circular label] du nord de la Capite de St Paul [handwritten]\ [red label] Holotype [handwritten]\ Museum Paris nord Capite de St- Paul [printed] (MNHP). The type specimen is in good condition.

Type locality: Brazil: São Paulo state .

Comment: This is a relatively common species distributed in the Brazilian states of Goiás, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais and São Paulo (Silveira et al., 2002). According to Moure et al. (2007) it has been also recorded in Paraguay.
