Myrmarachne MacLeay, 1839
Type species: Myrmarachne melanocephala MacLeay, 1839 (S Asia)
The ant-mimicking genus Myrmarachne, which contains over 200 nominal species, is one of the largest genera of jumping spiders. It is widely distributed in the world (including numerous islands – Prószyński 2014, World Spider Catalog 2015). In the continental part of the Afrotropical Region Myrmarachne is represented by almost 50 species. A considerable number of them are difficult to identify, which applies especially to females.
Hitherto 12 species of Myrmarachne have been noted from Kenya: M. giltayi Roewer, M. ichneumon (Simon), M. kiboschensis Lessert, M. kilifi Wanless, M. kitale Wanless, M. lawrencei Roewer, M. lulengana Roewer, M. marshalli Peckham & Peckham, M. melanotarsa Wesołowska & Salm, M. militaris Szombathy, M. naro Wanless, and M. uvira Wanless. We add M. dundoensis Wanless to this list.
