Material examined. Holotype ♂: COSTA RICA, Monte Verde, 29.VI.1972, T-B, H.M. Powell col. (UCD # 1089). New material: PANAMA: Chirique, 5–6 km N Boguete, La Culebra trail, 1650m, 15–19.VI.1996, F[light] I[nterception] T[rap], J. Ashe & R. Brooks col. (CNCI).

Diagnosis. MALE (Fig. 51). Black, metasoma bright rufous. Mandible with five apical teeth (Fig. 52). Clypeus with angulate median lobe. Antennal scrobe wholly carinate. Frons weakly coriaceous. Vertex convex. Pronotal disc strongly coriaceous; anterior corner subangulate; not carinate at all, but lateral margin somewhat sharp; posterior margin paralleled by series of foveae. Scutellar pit transverse. Mesopleuron with subtegular groove wide; anterior fovea subrounded; upper fovea large, upper margin absent; lower fovea with upper margin absent (Fig. 53). Genitalia (Figs 54, 55): paramere slender, inserted into basiparamere only on dorsal side, dorsal margin concave with base developed inward, apical margin truncate and oblique; cuspis divided into two arms, ventral arm slightly longer than dorsal arm, both arms with rounded apices, cuspis apex not aligned with paramere apex; aedeagus bottle-shaped, apex aligned with cuspis apex, thick with deep emargination at apex, with basal margin slightly angulate at corner; ventral surface with conspicuous projection ventrad; apodeme with base very dilated outward. FEMALE unknown.

Remarks. Sex wrongly stated as female at the label of determination.
