Only a single individual of this species has been reported previously from the extreme north of the Persian Gulf: (Koehler 1910). This species is otherwise only know from the South China Sea and Japan, and the lack of any repeated collection, despite considerable effort, makes the status of this species in the Gulf suspect (see above).
