Distribution. Argentina: Tucumán (Dpto. Trancas); South America: Brazil and Venezuela (Wood 2007; Atkinson & Flechtmann 2021).
Comments. This species was described from Venezuela but is widely distributed in Brazil (Atkinson & Flechtmann 2021). A revision of specimens from lowland Mexico to South America that had previously been identified as H. erectus (LeConte), including specimens in Wood’s collection, were either H. birmanus (Eggers) or this species (Atkinson, unpublished).
