Redtenbacher 1892: Corycus intermedius Redtenbacher, 1892
Redtenbacher (1892) described a female from São Tomé with a long ovipositor (17.5 mm compared to 11 mm in C. paradoxus; Fig. 2 C) and a coloration similar to a congeneric species from mainland Africa as a new species. The species was never found again. Interestingly, on the island of Bioko also two Corycoides species with differing coloration have been found (Griffini, 1906).
