Blidingia minima
is a resilient euryhaline species (Thom 1984). It readily grows in saltmarshes, estuaries as well as intertidal pools (Polderman 1975; Munda 1978; Araújo et al. 2006) and was molecularly confirmed from brackish waters of the Baltic Sea (Steinhagen et al. 2021). The thalli can be attached to hard surfaces, such as stones, rocks, boulders and wood, or rarely free-floating in sheltered water (Škaloud et al. 2018). It is among the first colonizers of artificial substrates (Hruby & Norton 1979). Another genetic study confirms the presence of B. minima on the Pacific Coast (Hayden & Waaland 2002). The same strains were used as reference for T. ulvae colonized algae in Pérez-Ortega et al. (2018). Gallardo et al. (1999) report B. minima from South Shetlands Islands, Antarctica.
