Euembia Verhoeff 1904, type species.
The name Euembia was erected as a subgenus of Embia Latreille 1929 to include those species of Embia with males bearing wings (at that time excluding Embia (Haploembia) solieri Rambur 1942) (Verhoeff 1904). Verhoeff did not, however, designate a type species. He included 12 species of Embioptera in Euembia including those from numerous different currently recognized genera. Euembia has been regarded as a subjective synonym of Embia since soon after it was first recognized (Enderlein 1909; 1912). Therefore, in the interest of selecting a type species best reflecting the historical interpretation of Embia Latreille 1925, I hereby designate as type species of Euembia Verhoeff 1904 the species Embia savignii Westwood 1837 (new type designation).
