Current name: Beta vulgaris L. subsp. maritima (L.) Arcang. ( Chenopodiaceae).
Note: Hedge (in Rechinger, Fl. Iranica 172: 21. 1997) subsequently indicated 314.3 (LINN) as type, a specimen rejected from consideration by Letschert on the grounds that it came from “Aegypto”, conflicting with Linnaeus’ “… Angliae, Belgii …” .
