Generitype of Bidens Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 179. 1929).

Current name: Bidens tripartita L. ( Asteraceae).

Note: Harriman (in Taxon 47: 485. 1998) proposed the conservation of the generic name with feminine gender, recommended by the Committee for Spermatophyta (in Taxon 49: 272. 2000). However, the General Committee (in Taxon 55: 796-797. 2006) referred this back to the Committee for Vascular Plants for reconsideration.
