Current name: Aspalathus aspalathoides (L.) Rothm. ( Fabaceae: Faboideae).

Note: Specific epithet spelled “aspalatoides” in the protologue.

As noted by Dahlgren (in Opera Bot. 4: 114. 1960) and Nordenstam (in Bot. Not. 114: 278. 1961), this is a nomen novum for the illegitimate A. lotoides L. (1756), a later homonym of A. lotoides L. (1753) .
