plumbana Fabricius, 1787

Pyralis plumbana Fabricius, 1787: 225; 1794: 246.

Type locality. Germany, Hamburg (“Habitat Hamburgi. D. Schulz”).

Material examined. None.

Identity. Ancylis apicella (Denis and Schiffermüller, 1775) ( Olethreutinae, Enarmoniini).

Remarks. Fabricius first described this species as Pyralis leeana (Fabricius 1776: 292), but renamed it P. plumbana with a note to his description of P. leeana (Fabricius 1787: 225), apparently because the name leeana was reserved for another species (see leeana above). The synonymy was proposed correctly by Werneburg (1848: 538), together with Pyralis leeana Fabricius.
