Type Locality: Brazil, eastern margin of Lago de Téfé (Hershkovitz, 1977; further refined by Groves, 2001 c:143) .
Vernacular Names: Red-capped Tamarin.
Synonyms: Saguinus juruanus Ihering 1904 .
Distribution: W Brazil, east of Rio Téfé, west of Rio Purus.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II.
Discussion: S. mystax species group. See Hershkovitz (1977:700). Separated from S. mystax by Groves (2001 c:143-4).
