Distribution: Nepal, east of Gorkha, to Sikkim and parts of southernmost Tibet (China), 1500-3500 m.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix I and U.S. ESA – Endangered as included in S. entellus; IUCN – Lower Risk (nt) as S. entellus schistaceus .
