Asynapta inflata Spungis

Asynapta inflata was originally described from two males collected in Latvia and Ukraine (Spungis 1988), apparently the only specimens known of this species prior to the present study (see A. inflatoides for further information). Specimens studied here give evidence of A. inflata ’s occurrence in the southern parts of Sweden (Öland, Småland, Bohuslän, Södermanland). Characters to distinguish between the two siblings, A. inflata and A. inflatoides, are explained here under A. inflatoides . Spungis (1988) described the male of A. inflata to have 18 flagellomeres; our specimens have 15 to 19.
