Sparianthis granadensis (Keyserling, 1880)
Figs 69–70, 143
Themeropis granadensis Keyserling, 1880: 235, plate 6, fig. 128 (holotype subadult female, Neu-Granada [Colombia, Bogotá, 4.5833, -74.0667], A. Lindig leg., NHM 90.7.1.3164, examined).
Sparianthis granadensis: Simon 1880: 339 . World Spider Catalog 2020.
Note. Although S. granadensis was described based on a subadult female and no other material was examined that could be attributed to this species, the dissection of the genitalia of the holotype enabled me to examine the external features of the epigyne. The description provided by Keyserling (1880) is quite complete and here I add few additional characters, mainly in the diagnosis. Characters such as eye arrangement, diameters and interdistances and cheliceral dentition follow the generic pattern. I am convinced that this is a valid species, and that the collection and examination of material from the region of Bogota will yield fresh adult male and female specimens for a more thorough redescription in the future .
Diagnosis. Females of S. granadensis resemble those of S. picta by the epigyne with median septum light bulbshaped and anterior atrium wider than long (Figs 70, 125). They are distinguished from the latter species by anterior atrium rectangular (oval in S. picta) (Figs 69–70). Additionally, both species can be distinguished by the number of ventral spines on leg metatarsi I–II: two pairs in S. granadensis and three pairs in S. picta .
Description. Female (holotype): see Keyserling (1880).
Additional description: Spination follows generic pattern, except femora I–III: r1-1-1. Epigyne: not completely formed; lateral lobes indistinct (Figs 69–70).
Male: unknown.
Distribution. Only known from the type locality in Colombia (Fig 143).
