DISTRIBUTION: SW California (USA) to W Baja California Norte (Mexico).

SYNONYMS: anthonyi Osgood, inopinus Nelson and Goldman, majusculus Huey, pallidus Mearns, xerotrophicus Huey.

COMMENTS: Reviewed by Huey (1964). Includes anthonyi, considered as a full species by Hall (1981).
