Genus LIBURNIA Stal

As at present constituted, this genus contains nearly 60 species. Many species which are at present assigned to the genus Delphacodes Fieber were previously assigned to Liburnia . Liburnia furcifera has a nearly world-wide distribution in the warm temperate and tropical regions of the world. This genus may be characterized briefly as follows: slender species with the head about as wide as the pronotum; carinae of the head and pronotum usually conspicuous; face with a single median carina; vertex produced only slightly in front of eyes; intermediate carinae of pronotum converging, reaching the pos- terior border. The male genital styles usually broad with the inner angle produced; the diaphragm usually large and the anal segment usually has a pair of elongate slender recurved spines.
