Comparison of photographs of the female holotype of Oreodera ferruginea Fuchs, 1964 (CHSV) and the female holotype of Sorelia cervina Lane, 1965 (MNHN), kindly provided by Gérard Tavakilian (MNHN), led us to propose the synonymy and new combination.

Specimen examined. BRAZIL, Goiás: Rio Araguaia, female, IX.1971 (G. F. Santos) (MNRJ).

Geographical distribution. French Guiana, Brazil (Tocantins, Goiás), Bolivia.
