Type Locality: Ukraine, Kherson Region, Golaja Pristan.

Vernacular Names: Dneper Common Shrew.

Distribution: Recorded from the Lower Dneper Region, Ukraine.

Discussion: Subgenus Sorex . Zagorodnyuk (1996 c) defined this larger form as an allospecies of S. araneus . The species differs in larger external and cranial measurements from the allopatric common shrew (Zubko, 1937).
