Type Locality: "Urwald hinter den Randbergen des Nord-Westufers des Tanganjika" = Sibatwa, 2,000 m, Itombwe Mtns, Dem. Rep. Congo.
Vernacular Names: Grauer's Large-headed Shrew.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered.
Discussion: Known only from the holotype which was collected in 1908. Like Myosorex schalleri, the species forms part of the endemic fauna of the Itombwe Mtns.
