Subspecies: M. n. novaeangliae (Borowski, 1781) .

Status: Occasional; stranded dead on the coast of Tartous in 2003 (Saad 2004; Ibrahim 2008; Gonzalvo & Bearzi 2008; Saad 2008; Ibrahim 2011b), and a whale found swimming 3 km west of Tartous (Saad et al. 2019) (Fig. 113).
