Chalarus sp. near zyginae

Chalarus perplexus sensu De Meyer et al. (2000)

Annotations: The sole representative of the genus on the Canary Islands is morphologically closest to C. zyginae in the female sex, but specimens are slightly larger in size and their frons is not as strongly narrowed (at narrowest point ~1.5 times largest frontal facet instead of 1.0). Males should be addressed as C. holosericeus agg., with php being slightly shorter than mtdp (Fig. 11). At this stage, no final decision can be made as to whether Canary Chalarus should be regarded as a distinct species or not, due to the lack of molecular data. For the time being it might be addressed as Chalarus sp. near zyginae .
