Chalarus marki Kehlmaier spec. nov.

Chalarus holosericeus ΨΨ sensu Jervis (1992) nec Meigen (1824)

Annotations: For material and species diagnosis see above. In the past, females of this taxon were regarded as C. holosericeus sensu Jervis (1992) . He records females of this species from England and Wales (as C. holosericeus), of which two specimens were reared from Eurhadina pulchella taken on Quercus robur . As regards the shape of the mandibular hook and posterior spiracular plate of fully grown larva/puparium figured in Jervis (1992), it is not explicitly stated whether the figure shows the male or the female. However, when comparing the mandibular hooks, the ones shown in the figure for C. holosericeus are most similar to C. indistinctus and C. brevicaudis, with which C. marki is closely allied, and hence should actually belong to female C. marki . In the case of the posterior spiracular plate of the fully grown larva/puparium, Jervis (1992) refers to the figures for distinguishing between males and hence they should indeed belong to male C. holosericeus . See Table 1 for coxI and ITS2 barcode sequence accession numbers.
