Lectotype (Melzheimer in Rechinger, Fl. Iranica 163: 399. 1988): Herb. Linn. No. 583.25 (LINN; iso- BM?) .

Current name: Silene bupleuroides L. ( Caryophyllaceae).

Note: Chowdhuri (in Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh 22: 255. 1957) indicated Clifford material at BM as type but did not distinguish between two relevant sheets there. They are evidently not part of a single gathering so Art. 9.15 does not apply. Although Greuter (in Strid & Kit Tan, Fl. Hellenica 1: 264. 1997) indicated one of the two sheets as lectotype, Melzheimer (in Rechinger, Fl. Iranica 163: 399. 1988) had in the meantime designated material in LINN as the lectotype, and this choice has priority.
