Lectotype (Nordenstam in Taxon 54: 551. 2005): Herb. Linn. No. 996.25 (LINN) .

Current name: Senecio varicosus L. f. ( Asteraceae).

Note: The application of this name has been uncertain but Nordenstam (in Taxon 54: 552. 2005) argues that it applies correctly to the species known as S. rodriguezii Willk. ex J.J. Rodr. (1874) . This species is sometimes treated as a synonym of the variable S. leucanthemifolius Poir. (1789) and in order to avoid displacement of the latter name (for those who favour a broad species concept), Nordenstam has proposed S. leucanthemifolius for conservation against S. varicosus .
