Note: Salvia aegyptiaca L. (1767) is a later homonym (and therefore illegitimate) of S. aegyptiaca L. (1753), the latter also appearing in Syst. Nat., ed. 12, 2: 64 (1767). Salvia spinosa was published as a nomen novum for S. aegyptiaca L. (1767, non 1753).
