Saxifraga bronchialis Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 400. 1753.
"Habitat in Sibiria." RCN: 3147.
Lectotype (Webb in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 95: 262. 1987): Herb. Linn. No. 575.37 (LINN) .
Current name: Saxifraga bronchialis L. ( Saxifragaceae).
Note: Webb argued that the only possible original element is 575.37 (LINN), annotated as "15 aspera" by Linnaeus, but from Siberia, where S. aspera does not occur (and for which Linnaeus indicated a European origin), suggesting that Linnaeus probably omitted to change his annotation when he decided to recognise this as a separate species. Holmgren & Holmgren (Intermountain Fl. 3A: 56. 1997) accepted this, noting that Webb’s choice supersedes the neotype choice made by Siplivinsky (in Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 8: 149. 1971).
