Paratryssaturus cantermus Cook, 1983

(Fig. 2K, 21 A–B)

Material examined. New Zealand, South Island, Selwyn River near Coalgate, 10.v.2004, 0/2/0 (0/1/0 mounted).

Remarks. Due to the subterminal position of excretory pore (Fig. 21 A) and pronounced projection on IV- L-2 (Fig. 21 B), the specimens from Selwyn river show conformity with Paratryssaturus cantermus Cook, 1983, a widespread species reported from North and South Island (Cook 1983). Differences are found in the dorsal shield ornamentation which consists of a reticulate pattern (Fig. 2K) but is lacking the papillae characteristic for P. cantermus (see Cook 1983, Fig. 590). The variability of further specimens needs to be examined to clarify the taxonomy.

Distribution. New Zealand; previously reported from North and South Island (Cook 1983).
