Tympallopatrum callosum new species

Type Material. Holotype (male): Beedelup Nat. Pk., 20 km W. Pemberton, moist moss on rocks below falls, 34° 24' S, 115° 52' E, FMHD #76447, 3 December 1976, J. Kethley. Deposited in the ANIC. Paratype: Western Australia, 12 km W. Walpole, Walpole Nat. Pk., Mt. Clare, Rate Tingle litter on sand, near stream, 34° 59' S, 116° 38' E, FMHD #76 518, 20 December 1976, J. Kethley (1 FMNH).
Diagnosis. Recognized by the large elytral callosities (Fig. 4), the deflexed clypeus, the piceous dorsum, and the midlongitudinal sulcus of the metasternum.
Description. Size (length/width, mm) holotype: body (length to elytral apices) 1.70/ 0.78, head 0.33/0.47, pronotum 0.47/0.61, elytra 1.04/0.78. Form elongate oval, transversely convex. Dorsum piceous, legs dark brown, ocelli and setae on reliefs brown.
Labrum deflexed, wider than long, in males with very small dentiform apicomedian process. Clypeus weakly deflexed in apical 0.5, setose at margins, sparsely granulate basally. Frons more strongly densely granulate, lateral margins setose and markedly angulate. Frons with median oval setose and granulate tumidity.
Pronotal disc with anterior oval fovea, between setose costae, ca. 2–3 times as large as fovea behind it, relief between foveae well developed; punctures and granules in anterior fovea forming two longitudinal series; reliefs setose and granulate. Pronotal lateral margins granulate and setose, arcuate from anterior angles then weakly recurved before weak posterior angles.
Elytral sculpture complex, strongly punctate, with setose callosities as illustrated (Fig. 4). Elytral margin minutely granulate and setose.
Metasternal disc dull laterally, weakly shining medially, with narrow midlongitudinal fovea. Aedeagus length 0.55 mm (Fig. 8).
Etymology. Named in reference to the elytral callosities.
