Glyptotendipes (Glyptotendipes) sensilis sp. n.

Type material. Holotype male, CANADA: Manitoba, Lake Winnipeg, Pine Dock, 31.vii.1969, P.S.S. Chang (CNC).

Diagnostic characters. The species is characterized by a total length of about 3.2 mm, only about 23 dorsocentrals, about 5 prealars, about 5 sensilla chaetica on p3 and scarlike marks on T VI about 0.8 times as long as tergite. In other details it is identical with G. (P.) lobiferus and G. (P.) paulisensus .

Etymology. From Latin, sensilis, endowed with feeling, referring to the relatively high number of sensilla chaetica on the legs.

Description. Male imago (n = 1)

Total length 3.2 mm, Total length/length of profemur 2.68.

Thorax. Dorsocentrals 23, prealars 5, supraalar 1, scutellum with 34 setae.

Wing. Squama with 24 setae.

Head. AR 3.82.

Legs. Sensilla chaetica 29 on ta1 of p2, 5 on ta1 of p3.

Abdomen. Scarlike mark on T VI 0.80 times as long as T VI and 3.6 times scar on T II.

Hypopygium (Fig. 4 B). HR 1.14.

Remarks. The species differs from both the above two species of the G. lobiferus - agglomerate in the lower total length, lower number of dorsocentrals and prealars, larger scarlike mark on T VI and higher number of sensilla chaetica on p3. In addition it differs from G. paulisensus by having a higher number of sensilla chaetica on p2 and from G. lobiferus by having a lower AR and lower number of setae on scutellum and squama.
