Scotophaeus blackwalli (Thorell, 1871) (Figs. 5a–c)

Scotophaeus blackwalli, Mansouri et al. 2019: 5 .

The genus Scotophaeus is known in Algeria by only two species: Scotophaeus scutulatus (L. Koch, 1866) captured from Tazoult in Batna (Di Franco 1994) and Scotophaeus validus (Lucas, 1846) from Alger (Simon 1899; Touchi et al. 2018), Annaba (Thorell 1875), El Kala in El Tarf (Lucas 1846), from Bou Saada in M’sila (Simon 1899).

Previous records in Algeria: This species was noted in the paper of Mansouri et al. 2019, however, the authors did not provide any supporting data for this finding.

Distribution: Europe, Caucasus, Turkey, Iran. Introduced to North America, Peru, Hawaii (World Spider Catalog 2024).
