Geographical distribution: Brazil (PA, SP)—B.

Remarks: This species was originally described as Mytilus modiolus brasiliensis Chemnitz, 1795 which is non binomial and then unavailable. Rios (1970, 1975, 1985, 1994, 2009) cited this species as a synonym of Mytella guayanensis (Lamarck, 1819), but they are currently considered as separated species (Huber 2010a).
