Material examined. EAST TIMOR. East of Atauro Island, 08°13’48”S 125°36’56”E, outer reef, coral reef slope, dead coral, 16 m depth, 20 Sep 2012, coll. A. Murray & P.A. Hutchings, 1 spec. (AM W.3028) .
Habitat. Occurring interstitially in coarse and coral sand, mud, as well as among seagrasses, from intertidal to depths greater than 240 m depth (San Martín & Hutchings 2006), and among dead corals.
Distribution. Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, Madeira Island (San Martín 2003), Australia (Western Australia, New South Wales; San Martín & Hutchings 2006), Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo; Fukuda et al. 2015). First record for East Timor.
