Luehea scabrifolia Presl (1851: 212) .

Lectotype (designated here):— MEXICO. Née s.n. (PRC!, two sheets, [PRC456049], [PRC456050]; isolectotype PRC!, two sheets, [PRC456047], [PRC456048]).

[= Luehea candida (Moc. & Sessé ex DC.) Martius (1826: 102)]

For the name Luehea scabrifolia, Presl (1851) cited the collection by Née from Mexico. Analysing the herbaria where the Née’s collection is deposited (Stafleu & Cowan 1976 –1988: 705), no samples in accordance with the protologue were found. So, we contacted the curators of the PR and PRC herbaria where Carl Presl worked his whole life (Stafleu & Cowan 1976 –1988: 390). We found two specimens by Née s.n. referred for Luehea scabrifolia in the herbarium PRC. One specimen has the original label written by Presl and the other sheet has the photocopy of this label. For this reason, in accordance with Arts. 9.3 and 9.4 of the ICN, we designate here, among the syntypes, the specimen PRC in two sheets, [PRC 456049] (Fig. 3a) and [PRC 456050] (Fig. 3b), as the lectotype of L. scabrifolia .
