Polygraphus major Stebbing
Polygraphus major Stebbing, 1903: 234 .
Recorded from Bhutan by Wood & Bright (1992). We have been unable to trace the original record, but it is highly probable that the species occurs in the country.
Distribution. Bhutan, China (Xizang), India (Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand), Kashmir, Nepal, Pakistan.
Biology. This species attacks conifers in the genera, Pinus, Picea and Cedrus (Pinaceae), but is particularly important as a pest of Pinus wallichiana in the Himalayan region (Browne 1968). Its biology has been described by Stebbing (1914), Beeson (1961) and Khanday et al. (2020). Associated coleopteran predators are considered to be important in regulating population levels (Khanday et al. 2016, 2018).
