Diagnosis. Oreta griseotincta is close to O. carnea (Sundaland) on both external and genital characters, and is difficult to distinguish. The forewing apex is more elongate and hooked in O. griseotincta . The male genitalia of the two species share the following characters: the uncus and socii are very small, well sclerotized, the former slightly swollen, and the latter roundly expanded; the median process of the gnathos is strongly developed, rhombic; the valva is slender; the sacculus is also slender but shorter than the valva; the saccus is well developed; the aedeagus is bent and U-shaped. In O. griseotincta, the uncus together with the socii is broader than in O. carnea; the median process of the gnathos is broader; the sacculus is narrower and round distally in this species, but broad and flat in O. carnea . In the female genitalia, the sclerotization of the area surrounding the ostium is more complex than in O. carnea .
Distribution. China (Taiwan, Hainan, Hong Kong, Yunnan), India, Malaysia, Singapore.
Remarks. The nominate subspecies is distributed in China and India, and O. griseotincta acutior, with the gnathos and the valva narrower, is distributed in Malaysia and Singapore.
