Diagnosis. A species of the subgenus Pterygotrigla with scales on the nape and breast, P1 11+3. No indication of hyperostosis.
Description. D VIII-IX-11; A. 12; P1 11+3;C. 9+8/7+9 from 2 radiographs; vert. 11+16=27 from 4 radiographs; Pterygiophore interdigitation from 2 radiographs: dorsal /1/1/2/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/2/1/1/1/1/1/1///////, ventral 2/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1////// or 2/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/2///////.

Distribution. Western Indian Ocean at Mauritius and Réunion Islands and in the Mozambique Channel off western Madagsacar.
