Ummidia ferghanensis (Kroneberg 1875) n. comb.

Cteniza ferghanensis Kroneberg, 1875: 27, pl. 3, f. 18 (Dj).

Sterrhochrotus ferghanensis Simon, 1892: 97 .

The original description of C. ferghanensis (Kroneberg, 1875) contains illustrations of the eye-formation, lateral carapace, rastellum and spine-group on the distal female palp segments (Kroneberg 1875: figs. 18a–e). All these illustrations clearly indicate that Kroneberg’s species is a member of the Ummidinae (sensu Raven 1985) rather than Cteniza . We therefore transfer C. ferghanensis to the genus Ummidia . This transfer gains support from the origin of Kroneberg’s specimen from Central Asia, a region from where Ummidia is reportedly known to occur (Zonstein 2007).
